Penn State and Texas A&M finished the season as conference tournament runners-up. Against Purdue in Sunday's Big Ten final, the Lions overcame a 17-point second-half deficit to have a chance to tie or win the game on its last possession. But Purdue's Zach Edey tipped the inbound pass, leading to a turnover, and preserving a 67-65 win for the Boilermakers.
Penn State won eight of its last 10 games, including three straight in the Big Ten Tournament, to get off the NCAA bubble. Coach Micah Shrewsberry reached his first NCAA Tournament in his second season as head coach.
The Aggies fell to Alabama 82-63 in the SEC Tournament championship game Sunday. Like Penn State, Texas A&M went on a late-season streak, winning 10 of 11 games before the SEC final.
