Former Nittany Lion Jordan Lucas Joins Penn State Football Recruiting Staff

Lucas, who played for James Franklin, won a Super Bowl ring with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Penn State coach James Franklin has made a point of adding lettermen to his staff. The latest to join the Nittany Lions has a Super Bowl ring. Franklin has hired Jordan Lucas, a former Penn State defensive back, as a recruiting coordinator. Lucas joins a fellow former Penn State defensive back Alan Zemaitis on the Penn State football recruiting staff.

Lucas played at Penn State from 2012-15 and was part of Franklin's first two teams. He began his career at cornerback, was named All-Big Ten honorable mention twice and then switched to safety as a senior in 2015. Lucas sustained a season-ending injury late in his senior year.

Lucas spent six seasons in the NFL, beginning his career with the Miami Dolphins, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. After two seasons with Miami, Lucas was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018. He started four games for the Chiefs that season. Lucas played in 14 games for the Chiefs in 2019, helping the team to victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl 54.

Lucas signed with the Chicago Bears in 2020 but opted out of the season. He played briefly with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 and was part of the Edmonton Elks organization in the Canadian Football League in 2023.

At Penn State, Lucas will be part of a staff that includes several former Nittany Lions, notably Zemaitis, Wally Richardson, Dan Connor, Torrence Brown and assistant coaches Ty Howle, Deion Barnes and Terry Smith.
