Penn State Continues Its Recruiting Success in Wisconsin

4-star prospect Garrett Sexton is the second Wisconsin lineman to join Penn State's 2024 recruiting class.

Penn State reached into Wisconsin for the second time in the 2024 recruiting cycle, picking up an intriguing commitment from Garrett Sexton. The offensive lineman announced his commitment Monday on social media.

Sexton, is a Hartland, Wisconsin, native and one of the more forward-projecting prospects of Penn State's 2024 class. He's a 6-7, 245-pound tackle who has the length and athleticism to play the position in the Big Ten. Sexton also has plenty of room to grow to become a Big Ten offensive tackle.

A former quarterback who also plays basketball, Sexton is a 4-star prospect according to 247Sports and a rising name in line recruiting. He committed to Penn State after visiting State College in March. Sexton also made recent unofficial trips to spring practices at Oklahoma, Northwestern, Minnesota and Wisconsin, which offered him a scholarship April 21. Sexton has nearly 20 scholarship offers that include Iowa, Michigan State, Illinois and Missouri.

Sexton became Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein's second major recruit from Wisconsin in the 2024 class. The Lions recently received a commitment from Donovan Harbour, Wisconsin's top-ranked player of the 2024 cycle, according to 247Sports. Sexton ranks No. 9. And the Lions might not be finished in Wisconsin. The state's No. 2 player, 4-star running back Corey Smith, is scheduled to announce April 28. Smith visited Penn State for the Blue-White Game.

With Sexton's commitment, Penn State has 11 players in its 2024 recruiting class. The Lions rank No. 7 nationally, and third in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports Composite.
