Penn State football coach James Franklin has a favorite phrase to describe his players: high production, low maintenance. To whom that applies, congratulations. Franklin loves the saying so much, he turned it into a T-shirt.

The Nittany Lions wore the slogan recently during their max-out lifting session, which punctuated winter workouts. Penn State opened the Lasch Football Building weight room to media for the session, providing a glimpse at what the football season looks like six months before kickoff.

"It's been a good seven weeks," Penn State strength coach Chuck Losey told reporters after the session. "This team, from a maturity and a focus standpoint, I think we're where we need to be. We've set a good foundation going into spring ball, so I'm really happy with it."

Max Ralph of AllPennState spent some time at the workout, getting these shots of the Nittany Lions in full max-out. Here's a look.

Losey pointed to fifth-year center Nick Dawkins as one of the team's leaders, and Dawkins was a prominent player in winter workouts.
