Penn State's Sean Clifford Makes Pre-Draft Visit to Philadelphia

Clifford, the Lions' all-time leading passer, meets with the defending NFC champion ahead of the NFL Draft.

Former Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford said he can add "substantial value" to an NFL team and that he just needs his shot. Clifford on Wednesday visited the Philadelphia Eagles as part of his tour across the NFL prior next week's draft.

On his Instagram account, Clifford posted a photo from inside the Philadelphia Eagles' NovaCare Complex with the caption "Last Stop." Clifford is visiting the defending NFC champions as part of a tour that has included stops with Cincinnati (his hometown team), Green Bay and several other teams ahead of the April 27-29 NFL Draft.

Clifford, Penn State's all-time leading passer, enters the NFL Draft with plenty of positive energy. At Penn State's Pro Day in March, Clifford said, "I'm truly playing my best ball," about which he felt confident in what he showed the attending NFL scouts. Clifford ran a time of 4.57 seconds in the 40-yard dash and tested well in other drills.

Clifford was particularly proud of the 40 time, calling it validation for what he might have done at the NFL Combine had he been invited. Not receiving an invitation motivated Clifford through workouts ahead of Pro Day.

"Absolutely, I felt like I was snubbed at the combine for sure," Clifford said after his Pro Day performance. "[With] the body of work that I’ve had with these teams here, when I didn't see my name as a combine guy, I felt disrespected for sure. But hey, it's just more fuel to the fire."

At Pro Day, Clifford said he had spoken with the Denver Broncos, had a planned meeting with the Dallas Cowboys and had met with representatives from every NFL team at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. The quarterback said he's ready for his chance.

"I just need to be in a camp," Clifford said at Pro Day. "I just need to be in a practice with the pros, because I know I’m a pro. I can come in and add value to a team. I know that more than anything. I still think I can play in the league 100 percent and help a team win games the same way I did here. It’s just being able to come out talk to as many scouts as possible. ... I truly feel like, no matter where I’m at, I can add a substantial amount of value."
