PITTSBURGH -- Following a massive win over North Carolina - their second this year and the fifth in their last six attempts - the Pitt Panthers are undoubtedly in the NCAA Tournament picture. Just about every major Bracketologist has the Panthers off the bubble and avoiding a play-in game.

In that sense, CBS pegging Pitt as an eighth seed in their latest projections comes as no surprise but where they will play is of note to the fans, who wouldn't have to travel far to see their team play in it's first NCAA Tournament since 2016 if their projections hold. They have the Panthers traveling to Columbus, Ohio to face Creighton in the first round. The winner earns the right to face No. 1 overall seed Purdue in the second round.

Colombus is the closest NCAA Tournament site to Pittsburgh. It's just a 186-mile, three-hour trip down I-70 from the Steel City to Nationwide Arena, where the 8-9 game in the South Region would be played. That's much closer than Birmingham, Alabama, where Fox and ESPN currently have the Panthers playing.
