Breaking: Pitt Receives Votes in AP Poll

The Pitt Panthers have earned AP Poll votes for the first time this season.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are as hot as any team in college basketball and anyone in college basketball right now and the rest of the country is taking notice.

The Panthers picked up four points in the latest AP Poll, making them the unofficial No. 37 team in college basketball right now. This is the first time the Panthers have received votes in the AP Poll this season.

Pitt was ranked in the AP Poll for just one week last season at No. 25 after ripping off 10 wins in 12 games during the middle of ACC play. But they fell out of the top 25 quickly with road losses at Notre Dame and Miami to close out the regular season.

The ACC has just two teams ranked this week - No. 8 Duke and No. 10 North Carolina. Virginia dropped from their No. 21 ranking thanks in large part to a loss to Pitt early last week, but they lead the "receiving votes" category of teams with 103 points. Clemson also earned three points in this week's poll.
