PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers needed some help if they were going to continue to compete for the ACC regular season title. They got some earlier in the week from Boston College, who beat Virginia by double digits at home, and got some more from Florida State, who knocked off No. 13 Miami on the road while Pitt was playing Syracuse thanks to a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Matthew Cleveland.

The Hurricanes entered the afternoon up a half of a game on Pitt in the ACC standings and with the loss, fell back behind the Panthers and Virginia to third. Not only did Pitt's resume get a small boost with Florida State, who beat the Panthers earlier this season, adding a fantastic win, but Pitt now has the inside track on the first seed in the coming ACC Tournament. It moved into a tie for first place with Virginia, but own the tiebreaker over the Cavaliers by virtue of a head-to-head win.

Cleveland and De'Ante Green led the Seminoles with 20 points each. They were two of of five players on his team to score in double-figures. Florida State trailed by 23 at halftime but rallied late to pull off the stunning upset.
