PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers are rolling after winning five in a row and seven of their last eight. The Panthers' 11-3 record at home has come with a rush of support from the fanbase. As the team gains more respect, so is their homecourt advantage.

Ahead of their matchup with Pitt this week, Boston College head coach Earl Grant said he has started to recognize the Petersen Events Center again with a lively crowd behind it.

"The Oakland Zoo is rowdy now, kind of looking like it was looking when I was at Clemson and Jamie Dixon was there," Grant, a former assistant coach for the Tigers from 2010 to 2014 said.

Panther fans have returned to the Petersen Events Center in droves, particularly during conference play when their team knocked off three ranked teams inside their home arena.

Pitt ranked seventh in the ACC in average home attendance during league play back in mid-January but has climbed to fifth in the conference at this point in the season. With just three home games remaining, the Panthers boast an average attendance of 10,423 fans, up from the 9,991 fans they had been averaging a month ago.

Pitt, NC State, North Carolina, Syracuse and Virginia are the only teams to clear 10,000 fans or more during ACC play. The Panthers fill 83.3% of their venue's listed capacity per contest, the highest rate of any ACC home arena that draws more than 10,000 fans per night.
