PITTSBURGH -- One former Pitt Panther is moving up the NBA hierarchy and making the leap from the G League to the Summer League this year.

Au'Diese Toney, a 6'6 guard from Huntsville, Alabama, who spent three seasons at Pitt after joining head coach Jeff Capel's first recruiting class back in 2018, was added to the Magic's Summer League roster this week after spending the 2022-23 season on their G League squad.

Toney and the Magic will play in four games over a one-week span from July 7 to 14 at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. There will also be a four-team, single-elimination playoff tournament on July 16 and 17. Teams who do not make the playoffs will play a fifth game on either July 15 or 16.

Two lottery picks - Jett Howard and Anthony Black (one of Toney's former teammates from Arkansas) - plus a pair of one-year Magic veterans in Caleb Houstan and Kevon Harris, will join Toney on the team. Toney will wear No. 51.

Toney averaged 9.7 points, 5.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while making 45% of his field goals over 70 games in three seasons as a Panther. He transfered to Arkansas in the spring of 2021 and thrived for the Hogs, averaging career-bests in scoring, shooting percentage, blocked shots and free throw shooting as his team won 28 games and finished 17th in the final AP poll.

Last season with Orlando's G League affiliate, the Osecola Magic, Toney averaged 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while making 56% of his field goals, 36.7% of his 3-pointers and 79% of his free throws over 21.1 minutes per game in 28 appearances.

Orlando's first game is scheduled for Saturday, July 8 at 5:30 p.m. against the Detroit Pistons and it will air on ESPN2. Every game of the Summer League will be broadcast on either NBA League Pass, NBA TV, ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU.
