Pitt's Blake Hinson Hits Career Scoring Milestone
PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers forward Blake Hinson had built a decent college career before he arrived in Pittsburgh as a second-time transfer but it really took off when as soon as he donned the blue and gold.
By making the first of two free throw attempts at the 16:53 mark of the first half against N.C. State, Hinson scored the 1,500th point of his long college career, 952 of which had come while he wore a Pitt uniform
Hinson helped the Panther jump out to a dominant start against the Wolfpack. He made four of his first five shots and finished the first half with 13 points. Pitt opened up leads as large as 11 in the opening period of this critical league matchup and it entered halftime up eight.
After earning second-team All-ACC honors a season ago, when he led the Panthers in scoring and rebounding, Hinson is gunning for a first-team selection in 2024. He entered the N.C. State game averaging 18 points and five rebounds per game while knocking down 42% of his 3-pointers.
Hinson arrived in Raleigh, North Carolina to face the Wolfpack riding a heater - he's averaging 17.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest over his last five games while making 54.5% of his 3-pointers - and kept that hot streak alive.
