PITTSBURGH -- Another former Pitt Panthers guard has signed their first professional contract and will head overseas to play in Europe this fall.

Jamarius Burton, the unquestioned leader of Pitt's first NCAA Tournament team in seven years, will join House of Talents Kortrijk Spurs of the Belgium Pro Basketball League.

Two other former ACC stars - Jayden Gardner of Virginia and Paul Atkinson of Notre Dame - will be teammates with Burton this season. The Spurs won the Belgian Division I Championship in 2023 after finishing as the runner-up in 2022. Their season begins in mid-September and runs through May.

Burton, a transfer from Texas Tech and Wichita State who spent two seasons at Pitt, averaged 12.4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game on 40% shooting from the field over 34 minutes per game during the 2021-22 season before making a massive leap in his final season of college basketball.

In 2022-23, Burton averaged 15.2 points, 4.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per night while shooting 48.8% from the floor on the way to First-Team All-ACC honors.

He had worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies and Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA this spring prior to the 2023 Draft. Burton did not receive an invite to Summer League this past year.

Last week, his teammate Nelly Cummings signed with AEL Limassol BC in Cyprus on a one-year deal.
