PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers let Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts with a dominating win over Boston College and the 25-point margin of victory helped them climb up the all-important NET Rankings as the regular season nears its close.

Pitt checked in five spots higher at No. 44 after defeating the Eagles after entering the weekend at No. 49. That makes them the No. 5-ranked team in the ACC and one of seven teams from the conference ranked in the top 60.

No. 9 Duke, No. 10 North Carolina, No. 25 Clemson and No. 31 Wake Forest are the only ACC teams that precede Pitt in the NET Rankings.

There is one bit of bad news - Wake Forest's 87-76 loss on the road to Virginia Tech dropped the Demon Deacons to No. 31 in the latest NET Rankings, which means the Panthers' lose a Quad 1 win. Still, they are 7-8 against Quads 1 and 2 combined and 12-2 against Quads 3 and 4.

Pitt's next two opponents - Florida State and N.C. State - checked in at No. 93 and No. 80, respectively, making the Panthers' final two games of the regular season both Quad 3 opportunities.

They don't have many chances left to earn marquee wins so the task becomes as simple as stacking as many wins in as impressive a fashion as possible before Selection Sunday.
