PITTSBURGH -- It's been a long wait but the Pitt Panthers are finally going dancing. On Selection Sunday 2023, the team learned they earned an 11 seed and one of eight spots in the First Four games played in Dayton, Ohio. This is the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in seven years.

Pitt is slated to play Mississippi State in the second First Four game at the UD Arena on the campus of the University of Dayton. Tip-off with the Bulldogs is scheduled for 9 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Panthers' spot in the tournament was up in the air heading into the weekend. A win in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals seemed like it had locked down their spot in the Big Dance but a blowout loss to Duke put their standing in question.

There's no doubting it now - the Panthers are tournament bound and excited about it.
