PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers opened as a slim favorite to beat the West Virginia Mountaineers in the 106th Backyard Brawl this weekend at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia and oddsmakers have swung in the opposite direction over the course of the week.

The Panthers are now consensus 2.5-point underdogs to their rivals from the south with kickoff two days away, according to Action Network, with some sportsbooks extending the spread to as large as three points.  The consensus point total line has decreased by three points to 47.5 and West Virginia is favored at -148 on the moneyline compared to +148 for Pitt.

At the onset of the week, Pitt had been a 1.5-point favorite, the point total line has been set at 50.5 and the Panthers are favored on the moneyline at -120 to +100 for West Virginia.

The Mountaineers are also 1-1, with a loss on the road at Penn State and home drubbing of Duquesne on their resume.

This is the first Backyard Brawl played at Milan Puskar Stadium since 2011, which was also West Virginia's last win in this series. Pitt won the first game in the revival of this series, 38-31 at Acrisure Stadium on opening night last year thanks to a fourth-quarter pick-six from cornerback M.J. Devonshire.
