PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have a lot of questions to answer as they look ahead to the start of spring practices and the 2024 season, but at least one forecaster has a positive outlook on what they will do in 2024.

Action Network's Brett McMurphy predicts the Panthers will play in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, Florida in 2024, where they'd face Tulane. It'd be a welcome return to the postseason for this program after a rough 2023 season and offseason.

Oddsmakers are not exactly bullish on Pitt's chances of returning to a bowl game next season after a disappointing 2023 campaign that ended in the worst record of head coach Pat Narduzzi's tenure and massive coaching staff turnover.

They'll be breaking in a litany of new coaches but they'll retain some of their most important pieces. Three safeties, two defensive ends, four linebackers, four offensive linemen, two quarterbacks, three wide receivers and a running back with starting experience will return, so there are plenty of reasons for some optimism, especially with a new offensive coordinator that is expected to pull Pitt's offense out of the two-year rut it's been trapped in.

Getting back to a bowl game would represent a major, necessary turnaround for a proud program that took a massive step back in 2023.
