MORGANTOWN -- The Pitt Panthers shifted their defensive starting lineup for the Backyard Brawl, elevating a reserve defensive back to a starting job.

Florida transfer Donovan McMillon took the first two drives at free safety as Pitt opened the Backyard Brawl at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia.

McMillon began his Pitt career as a backup to P.J. O'Brien, but after playing a strong second half against Cincinnati in Week 2, McMillon has taken a step up.

He made eight tackles against the Bearcats and was a crucial part of the resurgent second-half effort against a furious run game that got the Panthers back in the game after falling behind by as many as 20 points.

The former four-star recruit spurned Pitt for Florida coming out of high school, but after two seasons in Gainsville, returned to Western Pennsylvania to play for his hometown team.
