PITTSBURGH -- Another under-the-radar former Pitt Panthers defensive back is gaining some hype as a professional prospect as the NFL Draft draws closer and closer.

Cornerback A.J. Woods, who leaves Pitt after a five-year college career - the last two as a starter - is receiving interest from a handful of NFL squads, including the Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, Green Bay Packers, Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens, according to a report from Justin Melo of The Draft Network.

Woods had a strong week at the 2024 Hula Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl, which has helped him generate some buzz despite not receiving an invitation to the NFL Combine.

Woods began his career as a special teams ace before working his way into a substantial role on defense during his sophomore campaign. One of his crowning moments as a Panther was a 73-yard interception return against Wake Forest in 2021 that stands as an ACC Championship Game record.

Woods spent five seasons at Pitt and appeared in 59 games, starting 14 of them. He amassed a total of 102 tackles, 2 sacks, 4 interceptions and 25 passes defended during that time.
