Former Pitt TE Elevated to Broncos Active Roster
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers tight end Lucas Krull will be in uniform as the Denver Broncos take on the Buffalo Bills in primetime.
Krull, a former Pitt standout for two seasons that helped fuel an explosive passing offense, has been elevated to the active roster for the first time this season, according to a report from Troy Renck of Denver7 News and 104.3 The Fan in Denver.
Krull turned in an impressive preseason, ending training camp as the New Orleans Saints' most-targeted receiver, despite playing in just two preseason games. He hauled in 10 of 23 total targets for 136 total yards, but was a surprising cut at the end of the summer. He was quickly picked up by the Broncos, but had remained on their practice squad until now.
Krull spent two years in Pittsburgh and played the full season just once but was a valuable part of the Panthers' 2021 ACC Championship squad. He caught 38 passes for 451 yards and six touchdowns, the most scores by a Pitt tight end since Dorin Dickinson's 10 in 2009.
