Johnny Petrishen Made NFL Teams Notice at Pitt Pro Day
PITTSBURGH -- Leaving UPMC Rooney Sports Complex follow Pitt's 2022 Pro Day, something caught my eye. Standing off to the side was Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert having a one-on-one conversation with Pitt linebacker Johnny Petrishen.
Nothing out of the ordinary for GMs to do at Pro Days, but this one made me think. Why? Because Petrishen stood out all day long, and it was a performance worthy enough to hear about it from Colbert.
Petrishen shined through the Pro Day, putting up some impressive numbers.
- Height: 6-foot-0 7/8
- Weight: 227 pounds
- Hands: 8 1/2 inch
- Arm: 30 1/2 inch
- Wingspan: 74 1/4 inch
- Bench: 20 reps
- Vertical: 38 1/2 inches
- Long Jump: 10 feet
- 40 Time: 4.55
- Three Cone: 6.97
- Shuttle: 4.18
"I heard today that, everybody said I really helped myself out today,” Petrishen said. "People said I could run my way into the draft with my numbers today. I talked to a lot of teams, they said they like me a lot."
Petrishen came into the Pro Day with undrafted free agent expectations, but could find himself as a late-round pick after such a showing.
"I was telling my dad, it’s probably the most important interview of my life today," Petrishen said."You know, doing this in front of everybody. I kinda like having all eyes on me, it gives me more energy, more adrenaline."
After such a strong day in front of scouts, he might have earned himself a place in next month's draft.
