Nebraska Flips Three-Star Pitt TE Commit

The Pitt Panthers lost a tight end commit to his hometown team.

PITTSBURGH -- Mired in a three-game losing streak, the hits keep coming for the Pitt Panthers, who learned that one of their 2024 commits has decided to abandon his verbal pledge to them.

Eric Ingwerson, a three-star tight end from Papillion, Nebraska and one-time Pitt commit, flipped to Nebraska this week, according to a report from Greg Smith of InsideNebraska, the Rivals outlet that covers the Cornhuskers.

Matt Rhule and his coaching staff had made a push to get Ingwerson to flip over the summer, but he denied their advance and reaffirmed his commitment to Pitt. It did not last, however, and the Nebraska coaching staff finally broke through months later to land a coveted local recruit.

At 6'7 and 250 pounds, Ingwerson could play tight end, defensive end or offensive line in college depending on how his body fills out.

He is rated as a three-star prospect by each of the four major recruiting services, with On3 ranking him as high as the No. 6 player in Nebraska and ESPN considering him the No. 35 tight end in the class of 2024.
