Pitt HC Pat Narduzzi Not Pleased With Refs in Virginia Tech Game

The Pitt Panthers had some questionable calls against them in Week 6.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers finished Week 6 with nine penalties for 76 yards in their win over Virginia Tech. 

A game that Pitt held in check for most of the afternoon took some minor setbacks when yellow flags come out. And on a few plays, head coach Pat Narduzzi didn't necessarily agree with the call by the refs.

"That roughing the passer, guys, roughing the passer, are you kidding me? I thought the fans might crash the field," Narduzzi said after the game. "But whatever, I just try to -- I send the plays in, we'll get them looked at, and I can just tell you this: We've had about a 50 percent response back that we agree, it's a bad call, but we've had 50 responses on plays that don't get called."

Narduzzi also pointed out a number of calls that weren't made where he believes refs are struggling this season.

"We've gotten cut, whammed and cut, this new chop rule that never gets called, and Dennis Hennigan has done an outstanding job of getting us responses saying sorry, Coach," Narduzzi said.

"Some of those we'll look at. There was a push-off of one of their touchdowns, and then they're calling PI on us."

But, like any coach in college football, he made sure to show some love to the refs.

"Officials are doing a great job," Narduzzi said. "They're doing a great job."
