Pitt Football Practice Highlights: 'When it's live, it's live'
PITTSBURGH -- The season opener against rival West Virginia is one week closer and as the clock continues to wind down on preseason training, the physicality is ramping up. The Pitt Panthers were fully dressed - in pads from head to knee - for the first time this weekend.
Pitt was back in full pads on Monday and used that time to get early looks at how the players respond to live contact after an offseason devoid of it. Head coach Pat Narduzzi said he's been pleased with the work his group has done so far and says that live periods have been balanced.
"I'm happy with where our guys are at this point," Narduzzi said before practice. "Our guys are competing. ... Yesterday, first practice in pads, was a back and forth. The offense won one period and then the defense would come back and win the next one and it was just kind of a back-and-forth thing which you love to see."
