Former Pitt K Chris Blewitt Ties USFL Record
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Maulers put their first notch in the win column this weekend behind a record-breaking performance from former Pitt Panthers kicker Chris Blewitt.
Blewitt, who has bounced around professional football ever since graduating from Pitt in 2017, converted all five of his field goal attempts from 46, 50, 24, 34 and 35 yards to tie a USFL record for most field goals made in a single game. He accounted for 15 of Pittsburgh's 21 points in their lone win of the season over the Philadelphia Stars at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
This was Blewitt's first action in a professional game since 2021, when he missed three of five field goal attempts for the Washington Commanders before being promptly cut. He's spent time on the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Browns but never rising above the practice squad.
Blewitt is Pitt’s all-time leader in field goals, extra points and scoring by a kicker, and he’s second in all-time scoring with 363 points. He earned All-ACC honorable mention consideration after his senior season. Blewitt converted 55-of-79 field goal attempts and converted 198-of-204 extra points during his time with the Panthers.
