Report: Damar Hamlin Makes Bills Roster

Former Pitt Panthers safety Damar Hamlin has taken another massive step in his return to football.

PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers safety Damar Hamlin had one hurdle left to clear in his recovery from cardiac arrest and return to professional football and he's cleared it as of this week.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissaro reported that Hamlin, who played at Pitt from 2016 to 2020, has cleared the final rounds of cuts and will make the Buffalo Bills' 53-man roster.

Over the past eight months, Hamlin has cleared test after test after going into cardiac arrest on the field of Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati during a Monday Night Football game last season.

Hamlin, who started 15 games last season and racked up 91 total tackles in the process while the Bills dealt with a litany of injuries in their secondary, is expected to take a backseat as the Buffalo defensive backs get healthier.

Still, he'll play an every-week role as a reserve safety and special teamer. The 2020 All-ACC selection and sixth-round draft pick recorded 10 total tackles in three preseason games this summer.
