PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers fell, 27-21, to Cincinnati at Acrisure Stadium and subpar quarterback play was left to , as Phil Jurkovec completed just 31% of his 32 attempts for 179 yards and three touchdowns.

When asked if the Pitt coaching staff considered benching Jurkovec in favor of backup Christian Veilleux at any point during the game, Narduzzi's answer was simple.

"No," he said.

Narduzzi added that Jurkovec was not solely to blame for how the offense underperformed against the Bearcats. He said five sacks is too many for his quarterback to take and drops by receivers hurt the passing offense as well.

Left tackle Matt Goncalves stood by his quarterback as well following the game, saying he believes in Jurkovec and the rest of the unit.

"I feel comfortable with our offense," Goncalves said. "I feel comfortable with our quarterback."
