Former Pitt RB Makes Game-Winning Score vs Eagles
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers running back James Conner was back in the Keystone State this weekend as his Arizona Cardinals visited the Philadelphia Eagles and he played one of his best games of the season in his home state.
Conner, the former Pitt standout and Steelers draft pick in 2017, rushed 26 times for 128 yards and one touchdown and added a touchdown reception as well. His rushing score with 32 seconds put the three-win Cardinals in front of the 11-win Eagles in Philadelphia and proved to be the game-winning score.
Conner's five-yard, one-handed touchdown reception in the first half drew Arizona even with Philadelphia at 21 after they had started the game down 21-6. Running towards the sideline, Conner hauled in a short pass into the endzone with just his right hand as a defender remained draped all over him.
Conner's career has gotten a second win in Arizona. The 980 yards he has now rushed for this year marks his most in a single season since a 973-yard campaign with the Steelers in 2018. He's already made two Pro Bowls and appears on his way to another trip to that special game in 2024.
