Former Pitt QB Kenny Pickett Out for Another Week
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers quarterback Kenny Pickett will have to wait another week before he can return to the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers as he recovers from an ankle injury.
The Steelers have officially ruled out their 2022 first-round pick out of Pitt and will turn to Mason Rudolph for another week as they make the cross-country trek to face the Seattle Seahawks.
Pickett is 30 days removed from his injury and four weeks removed from the tightrope surgery he underwent to repair the damaged ankle.
Rudolph stepped in to start last week as the Steelers routed the Bengals, 34-11 at Acrisure Stadium. He threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns.
Pickett returned to practice last week, albeit in a limited capacity. He said he felt good enough to play, but was leaving the final decision up to the team medical staff. They clearly did not feel good enough about his mobility to make him active for this game.
