Former Pitt TE Hauls in Highlight Catch for Saints
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers' tight end Lucas Krull opened his 2023 season with a bang for the New Orleans Saints.
In Week 2 action against the Los Angeles Chargers, the former Pitt and Florida tight end brought in one of the most impressive catches of the NFL preseason, going up and over linebacker Raheem Layne for the big gain.
Despite appearing in just one gameKrull has been the Saints' most-targeted tight end and one of their most sought-after targets overall during the preseason - only A.T. Perry and Bryan Edwards have been thrown to more than Krull by Saints quarterbacks over the past two weeks. He hauled in three of eight targets for 30 yards in the 22-17 victory.
Krull spent two years in Pittsburgh and played the full season just once but was a valuable part of the Panthers' 2021 ACC Championship squad. He caught 38 passes for 451 yards and six touchdowns, the most scores by a Pitt tight end since Dorin Dickinson's 10 in 2009.
