Pitt Misses on Troy Transfer Derrick Graham
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers were looking to add some more depth to their offensive line through the transfer portal but they hit a roadblock while pursuing a transfer candidate from the Group of 5 level.
Former Troy offensive tackle Derrick Graham, who took an official visit to Pitt over the weekend, told GigEm247 - 247Sports' dedicated Texas A&M site - and Carter Karels that he had chosen the Aggies over offers from the Panthers, Ohio State, Missouri and others.
Graham spent four seasons with the Trojans but still has two years of eligibility remaining. The 6'4 and 314 pound tackle can play on both sides of the line, has some experience at guard and is athletic, as his touchdown reception in Troy's bowl game against Duke showed. He was the first true freshman to start on the offensive line at Troy. He appeared in 38 games during his career as a Trojan and made 24 starts.
Pitt will return the bulk of the starting offensive line unit that closed the 2023 regular season, with tackles Branson Taylor and Ryan Baer set to return in 2024 alongside center Terrance Moore and guards B.J. Williams and Ryan Jacoby, who missed all of last season with a knee injury. NC State transfer Lyndon Cooper has been added to the fold this winter as well.
