Pitt Receives No Votes in AP Poll
PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers suffered a brutal loss at home to the Cincinnati Bearcats this past weekend, their first of the season.
And as their furious fourth-quarter rally to the Bearcats fell short, the Panthers were certain to fall out of contention for a spot in the new AP top 25 rankings and when the latest rankings came out, they were nowhere to be found.
The Panthers garnered 16 votes in the preseason poll, eight in the Week 1 poll and earned none after their loss to Cincinnati in Week 2.
Pitt will now have a long way to go if they want to make it three consecutive seasons ranked in the top 25 and the road does not get any easier from here. The Panthers will travel to Morgantown for a rivalry game next weekend before hosting No. 20 North Carolina for the start of ACC play.
No. 3 Florida State, No. 9 Notre Dame and No. 21 Duke are also on the Panthers' schedules.
