PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers' offense took a long time to wake up against Cincinnati and even when it did, it was too little and too late.

And while the Panthers were muddling through a poor offensive performance, the home fans at Acrisure Stadium made their displeasure known, booing the team on several occasions. Starting quarterback Phil Jurkovec took a chance to respond during his postgame press conference.

“I think if you’re a grown-ass man booing in that stadium then you’ve got to look at things yourself," Jurkovec said. "I think that’s pathetic. But we didn’t play well enough. We’re going to be better.”

Jurkovec completed 10 of 32 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns against the Bearcats. The Panthers ran for just 2.9 yards per carry and converted less than 40% of their third down attempts.

They showed some late life, thanks in no small part to some untimely penalties from the Bearcats. But their 14 fourth quarter points were not enough to overcome the 20-point deficit they entered the final period with.
