Pitt Starting RB Leaves UNC Game with Injury
PITTSBURGH -- At the tail end of a brutal loss to the North Carolina Tar Heels, the Pitt Panthers lost one of their best offensive players to an injury.
Pitt's starting running back, Rodney Hammond, went down late in the fourth quarter with what looked like an injury to his hand or wrist.
Trainers tended to Hammond on the field and then brought him back to the sideline, then to the locker room. Hammond did not return to the sideline after leaving the game.
C'Bo Flemister took the vast majority of the snaps as Hammond's understudy and finished the day with one rush for 10 yards and dropped his lone target.
Hammond finished his night with 14 rushes for 83 yards and a touchdown and caught three of his five targets for 11 yards in the 41-24 loss to No. 17 North Carolina.
