MORGANTOWN -- The Pitt Panthers had to play their first two games without an up-and-comer on the defensive line, but he appears ready to make his season debut in the Backyard Brawl.

Redshirt freshman defensive tackle Sean FitzSimmons was dressed and warming up with his Pitt teammates after missing the first two games of the season with an undisclosed injury.

FitzSimmons was a standout during training camp and will make his season debut  Pitt is deep at the top of the defensive tackle position, but losing FitzSimmons had been a major blow to the depth at that position.

The former three-star recruit played in three games last season, tallying two tackles and a sack in the Panthers' Week 3 matchup against FCS foe, Rhode Island. He figures to see a major step up in playing time this season, and will finally get his shot to earn it.
