PITTSBURGH -- The start of the 2024 Pitt Panthers football season is still months away but the preparations are already underway and more details about the schedule have come out as the offseason trudges through its dog days.

One of those details concerns Pitt's Week 4 opponent - Youngstown State. According to a report from Hero Sports' Sam Herder, who's tracked playouts for FCS teams playing Power 5 teams for years, the Panthers will pay Youngstown State $450,000 to travel to Pittsburgh and play a game at Acrisure Stadium during Week 4,

So-called "buy games" with the same payout totals include Florida State hosting Charleston Southern, Kansas State hosting UT Martin, Northwestern hosting Illinois, Richmond at Virginia and South Dakota State at Oklahoma State.

Pitt paid Rhode Island the same amount for a trip to Acrisure Stadium during the 2022 season, according to Herder. The school reportedly paid New Hampshire $425,000 for a game during the 2021 season.
