PITTSBURGH -- The transfer saga of former Pittsburgh Panthers receiver Jordan Addison is nearing a close, according to a report from Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports. Schultz Tweeted on Wednesday that Addison had narrowed his transfer destinations to Texas and USC. He added that a decision is expected to come soon.

Addison, who won the 2021 Biletnikoff Award, made national headlines when rumors of his decision to transfer first surfaced during the last weekend of April. Trojans head coach Licoln Riley allegedly tampered with Addison, recruiting him to USC before he was officially in the portal, which violates NCAA rules. Panthers head coach Pat Nrduzzi reportedly called Riley multiple times that evening to express his displeasure. Reports also claimed that USC boosters were offering Addison as much as $3 million in NIL deals to enter the portal. He officially entered the portal the following week.

Addison's camp said that this decision was about his development and NFL dreams. He said he's seeking a quarterback that can help make him better and a school that can best prepare him for the NFL Draft. Both the Trojans and Longhorns boast young, elite quarterbacks and Riley is considered one of the best offensive minds in the sport.

After USC initiated Addison's recruitment, Alabama and Texas became involved. Initially, the star receiver said he would consider returning to Pitt but the Panthers were reported to be out of the running early.

Whichever school he chooses, Addison will be immediately eligible since this is his first transfer. He is all but guaranteed to declare for the NFL Draft at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
