Four-Star Pitt Football Recruit Swaps PSU Visit For Panthers
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Panthers are competing with Penn State for one of the most coveted high school recruits at his position and, while they didn't land a commitment, seem to have scored a momentary victory.
Braeden Marshall, a four-star corner, put both the Panthers and Nittany Lions in his top ten last week. He said in a since-deleted tweet that he would officially visit Penn State on June 16 and 17.
But on Monday, Marshall made a change of plans. He announced on Twitter that, instead of heading to State College, he'll visit Pitt on that same weekend.
Marshall's already visited both schools unofficially. He took a trip to State College in January and received an offer from James Franklin's staff in February. Pitt and tight ends coach Tim Salem were the first to extend a Power Five offer to Marshall, who was in Pittsburgh during the days leading up to last season's win over Duke.
Arkansas, UNC, Tennessee, Clemson, Miami, Wisconsin, Nebraska and UCF were also in Marshall's top 10 alongside Pitt and Penn State. He took an official visit to UCF in January and has one scheduled with UNC for next month as well.
Marshall is the No. 39 cornerback in the country and No. 70 player in the state of Florida, according to 247Sports. He has not announced a commitment date.
