Former Pitt Star Making NFL Comeback After Being Shot Four Times
PITTSBURGH -- Former Pitt Panthers defensive star Jaylen Twyman is making an NFL comeback, beginning offseason workouts with the Minnesota Vikings, according to Pioneer Press’ Chris Tomasson.
The 6-foot-2, 320-pound defensive lineman was the Vikings' sixth-round pick in 2021. However, in June of last year, he was the unintended victim of a shooting in Washington D.C. while visiting family. He was shot four times and missed the entire 2021 season recovering from his injuries.
Twyman will have an opportunity to play for the first time since 2019 after sitting out the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
The former Panthers star came to Pitt as a three-star recruit in 2017. Before leaving, he earned second-team All-American and first-team All-ACC honors in 2019 after recording 41 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.
