PITTSBURGH -- Mike Tomlin provided an update on former Pitt Panthers and current Steelers starting quarterback Kenny Pickett, who's dealing with a rib injury ahead of a Thursday Night Football date with the Tennessee Titans.

The outlook is not optimistic with a short week facing the Steelers and their former first-round pick out of Pitt from 2022, but they will leave the possibility open for him to play and make a game-time decision later this week.

Pickett suffered a rib injury on a brutal hit just before halftime and did not return to the game.

He was helped off the field after being tended to by trainers, then escorted to the blue medical tent before leaving the sideline entirely. Pickett came back out after halftime and warmed up but did not reenter the game.

Pickett had been struggling up to that point as the Steelers battled the elements and a furious Jaguars pass rush. He completed just 10 of 16 passes for 73 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. The Steelers had scored just three points by the time he exited the game.
