Report: Pitt HC Jeff Capel Visiting Syracuse Sharp-Shooter Joe Girard
PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers head coach Jeff Capel is pursing former Syracuse guard Joe Girard, spending an at-home visit with the transfer sharp-shooter.
According to Adam Zagoria, Capel joins a long list of schools interested in Girard. So far, he's completed at-home visits with Butler, Stanford and LSU, and will meet with Washington after Pitt.
Girard is a hot name in the portal after spending four years at Cuse. Last year, he shot 38.1% from three, making at least three triples in 17 games. He's started 123 of his 125 collegiate games, averaging 13.2 points and 3.6 assists.
After seeing the impact of veteran transfers this past season, Pitt is certainly looking to add another three-point shooter with experience this fall. They'll compete with Indiana, Tennessee, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, Clemson, Nebraska, BYU, and others for Girard's talents.
