Pitt Lands 2022 New Jersey Cornerback Recruit

The Pitt Panthers land a depth piece for the secondary.

The Pitt Panthers have landed 2022 New Jersey cornerback Matthew Amofa as a preferred walk-on.

The Hillsborough, New Jersey native received his preferred walk-on offer from tight ends coach Tim Salem last week, according to Pittsburgh Sports Now. He announced his decision Wednesday night on Twitter.

"First and foremost I would like to Thank God for putting me in this position, without Him none of this would be possible," Amofa wrote. "I would like to thank Coach Narduzzi and Coach Salem for giving me an opportunity to play at this level. I would also like to thank my Family, close friends and teammates for having my back throughout this process, you’ve all helped me greatly along the way. It has been one of my dreams to become a Power 5 athlete, and now my dreams are unfolding. With that said, I will be shutting down my commitment and will be committing to the University of Pittsburgh #H2P!!!!!"

Amofa recorded 18 tackles (17 solo), an interception and defended 10 passes as a senior.
