PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi is no far of the NCAA's recruiting schedule. The introduction of an earlier December Signing Day has made the traditional February Signing Day obsolete in his eyes.

"Signing Day is stupid, Signing Day number two," The Pitt head coach said in an appearance on Sirius XM Radio. "I'm glad you called it Signing Day number two. Signing Day - I mean, you talk about confusing recruits around the country."

Narduzzi claimed that 95% of recruits sign early and that works out better for both coaches and players. His Panthers signed all of their 2023 class in December anyway. Having two days makes the process too complicated, according to Narduzzi and he blames the NCAA for making the process unclear for recruits.

"You guys ever hear of something called the NCAA? They're a bunch of clowns. I mean, it's a clown show," Narduzzi said. "Why is it the first Wednesday in February? Why is that? It's old school. The game is changing like things need to change and the December Signing Day is good."

Narduzzi went on to question why there has to even be just one Signing Day, but he added that if there is just one day, he'd rather it be earlier in the calendar. Still, he would rather there be periods in which a recruit can sign instead of just one day.

"We probably need to move it up even further, move it up to August first or something like that," Narduzzi said. "Understand this - I've had this discussion with people in the NCAA - did you know you could sign today and you could sign all the way up to March 31st? Why can't you just say you can sign in December all the way up to February 1st? Why? What are we doing?"
