PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have been named a finalist for a three-star defensive lineman from Florida this week. 

Josh Alexander-Felton, a three-star defensive lineman out of Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida, announced that Pitt was a part of his top five alongside Georgia Tech, Maryland, UCF and NC State. 

Alexander is a three-star prospect according to On3, 247Sports and Rivals. He's ranked as high as the No. 120 player in Florida (On3) and the No. 51 defensive lineman in the class of 2024. 

The 6'4 and 225-pound lineman cut down an offer sheet that included Rutgers, Kansas, West Virginia, Cincinnati, Illinois, Vanderbilt, Iowa State, Virginia, South Florida, Florida Atlantic, UMass, Appalachian State, Liberty, Arkansas State, Howard, UAB, Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina A&T down to those five schools. 

Alexander-Felton took a visit to NC State in June.

Stephen Thompson graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications and political science from Pitt in April 2022 after spending four years as a sports writer and editor at The Pitt News, the University of Pittsburgh's independent, student-run newspaper.  He primarily worked the Pitt men's basketball beat, and filled in on coverage of football, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and lacrosse, in addition to other sports as needed.
