LIVE BLOG: Follow Purdue vs. Ohio State, Big Ten Tournament Semifinal in Real Time

Purdue basketball (27-5) gets its third matchup of the season against Ohio State (16-18) in the semifinals of the 2023 Big Ten Tournament in Chicago. Here is our live blog, which will keep you up to date on all the news and views in real time, straight from press row.

CHICAGO — Top-seeded Purdue looks to make the finals of the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament for the second straight season when it tips off against No. 13 seed Ohio State. 

The Boilermakers won both matchups against the Buckeyes during the regular season, including a dominant 82-55 win at Mackey Arena on Feb. 19. Entering the season, Ohio State was the only Big Ten team with a winning record against Purdue.

Purdue basketball looks to make it to its second consecutive Big Ten Tournament championship game. Follow along down below for updates:

2:12 p.m., FINAL — Purdue advances to the Big Ten Tournament championship game with an 80-66 win over Ohio State. 

2:07 p.m. — Purdue will be shooting free throws to end the game. Purdue leads by double-digits with under a minute left. Zach Edey heads to the bench with a game-high 32 points and 14 rebounds. 

2:03 p.m. — Felix Okpara fouls out of the game. He had seven points for the Buckeyes while battling Zach Edey underneath the basket for most of the game. Eugene Brown in at center, but he also has four fouls. 

2:02 p.m. — Brandon Newman hits a corner 3-pointer, just the team's second since halftime. He now has 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting to go along with three rebounds, three assists and no turnovers. 

1:56 p.m., UNDER 4 — We've hit the final media timeout following a foul called on Ethan Morton. Purdue leads 65-55 with 3:53 left in the game. The Boilermakers have made just two of their last 10 shots. 

1:51 p.m. — Ohio State was slowly chipping away at Purdue's lead, which was as many as 15 in the second half. A pair of Zach Edey free throws and a layup from Braden Smith make it a double-digit game once again with just over four minutes left. Boilers up 65-55. 

1:46 p.m. — Both Eugene Brown III and Felix Okpara have four fouls for Ohio State. The Buckeyes are thin down low without having Zed Key active. 

1:40 p.m., UNDER 8 — The offense has certainly slowed here in the second half, but Purdue still leads Ohio State 57-48 with 7:57 left to go. Both teams are shooting just above 30 percent since halftime. 

1:38 p.m. — Zach Edey is out of the game and Purdue has now missed on eight of its last nine shots. The Boilermakers' scoring drought is nearing three minutes. 

1:31 p.m., UNDER 12 — Zach Edey has not been very efficient with his shots today, but he's getting so many quality looks that it really doesn't matter. Game-high 23 points with 10:19 still to play, and Purdue leads Ohio State 57-43. 

1:28 p.m. — Zach Edey left all alone in the paint, and he puts in an easy dunk. He now has 21 points for Purdue on 9-of-18 shooting. Ohio State just doesn't have an answer. 

1:27 p.m. — Brandon Newman with back-to-back baskets for Purdue. He now has seven points for the game. 

1:21 p.m., UNDER 16 — Purdue leads Ohio State 49-38 with 15:38 left to play in the game. The Boilermakers continue to shoot at a high mark from the 3-point line. They are 6-of-8 from deep, and Braden Smith now has 10 points (4-of-4 from the field). 

1:20 p.m. — Sean McNeil makes a tough basket just before the shot clock expires, but Braden Smith comes down the floor on the next Purdue possession and buries his second 3-pointer of the game. 

12:57 p.m., HALFTIME — David Jenkins Jr. drills a 3-pointer just before halftime. Purdue goes into the locker room leading Ohio State 42-34. The Boilermakers ended the opening period on a 17-3 run. The Buckeyes had five turnovers in the same span. 

12:56 p.m. — Zach Edey makes 1-of-2 at the free-throw line. He's just 3-of-6 from the line in the first half. 

12:55 p.m. — Matt Painter calls a timeout with 42.9 seconds to play in the first half. Purdue has outscored Ohio State 19-8 since the Buckeyes took a seven-point lead with 10:15 left. 

12:50 p.m. — Zach Edey on Isaac Likekele is a matchup Purdue will take all game long. Edey has 16 points for the Boilermakers on 7-of-12 shooting, and they have a 38-34 lead. 

12:48 p.m. — Eugene Brown III is called for a flagrant foul, and Zach Edey ties things up for Purdue by hitting a pair of free throws. Edey scores on the next offensive possession to take a 33-31 lead, and the Boilermakers are riding a 12-2 run. 

12:44 p.m., UNDER 4 — Braden Smith with a nice move to get separation for a midrange jumper, and he hits it. Purdue trails Ohio State 31-29 with 3:51 left to go in the half. The Buckeyes have four turnovers in the last 4:27 and haven't scored in three minutes. 

12:42 p.m. — Purdue is in the bonus with just under five minutes left before halftime. The Boilermakers are just 2-of-4 from the line in the first half. 

12:38 p.m. — Zach Edey gets one to fall. He has a team-high eight points so far in the first half, but Purdue hasn't been able to slow down Ohio State's offense. Edey grabs an offensive rebound on the next possession and gets another basket through a foul. 

12:36 p.m., UNDER 8 — Ohio State leads 29-23 with 7:36 before halftime and is 11-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from the 3-point line. Zach Edey is getting good looks at the rim but is just 3-of-7 for Purdue. 

12:33 p.m. — Purdue hasn't made a shot from the field in the last five minutes. Ohio State has a 29-21 lead after Justice Sueing puts in another 3-pointer. The Buckeyes are 6-of-8 from range. 

12:29 p.m. — Trey Kaufman-Renn stops the scoring drought with a pair of free throws. He checks out so Zach Edey can take the floor again. 

12:28 p.m. — Ohio State is getting everything it wants on the offensive end of the floor. Purdue trails 26-19 and hasn't scored in three-plus minutes. The Buckeyes are on a 10-0 run. 

12:23 p.m., UNDER 12 — Ohio State has a 21-19 lead over Purdue with 11:39 left to play in the half. The Buckeyes have made seven of their last eight. The Boilermakers have four turnovers so far. 

12:22 p.m. — Make that 7-of-8 from deep after Roddy Gayle Jr. drills another 3-pointer. Purdue and Ohio State are knotted up, 19-19 with just over 12 minutes to play before halftime. 

12:19 p.m. — Both teams are trading baskets right now, but Caleb Furst finds his third basket of the first half to make it a three-point game. The Boilermakers and Buckeyes are a combined 6-of-7 from the 3-point line. 

12:18 p.m. — Braden Smith buries Purdue's third 3-pointer of the first half. The Boilermakers are 3-of-3 from beyond the arc so far, and all three shots have come from different players. 

12:17 p.m. — Caleb Furst and Ethan Morton check into the game for Purdue, and Furst immediately finds space underneath the basket for a dunk. An easy pass from Zach Edey. 

12:16 p.m. — Always a good stat to keep an eye on, Purdue has assisted on all four of its made field goals so far. Brandon Newman has two assists to go along with his opening 3-pointer. 

12:13 p.m., UNDER 16  — Purdue finally misses a shot from the field, and Ohio State answers with a big 3-pointer from Justice Sueing. The Boilermakers lead 10-8 at the first media timeout. 

12:11 p.m. — Zach Edey drops in back-to-back baskets for Purdue, and the Boilermakers have yet to miss from the floor in the first four minutes of the game. They are 4-of-4 and lead 10-3 before Roddy Gayle Jr. heads to the free-throw line. 

12:09 p.m. — A good start for Fletcher Loyer after a quiet game against Rutgers on Friday. He drills a 3-pointer and draws a charge on the defensive end of the court. Purdue is 2-of-2 from deep to start the game. 

Tipoff — Ohio State gets the opening possession, and Felix Okpara misses a 3-pointer. On the other end of the floor, Brandon Newman gets space and fires from deep for the first points of the game. 

Pregame — Larry Scirotto, Earl Watson and Kelly Pfeifer are the officials for Saturday's game between Purdue and Ohio State.
