COLLEGE PARK, Md. — No. 3 Purdue basketball crumbled in the second half in a 68-54 loss to Maryland on Thursday night at the Xfinity Center, falling to 23-4 overall and 12-4 in Big Ten play.

The Terrapins stole the momentum after junior forward Mason Gillis was called for a technical foul, sparking a 29-4 run to take control of the game. Braden Smith and Zach Edey contributed heavily to the Boilermakers' scoring efforts, combining for 36 points in the matchup.

However, only six players scored a point for Purdue while Maryland finished with three in double figures. Graduate guard Jahmir Young scored a game-high 20 points on just 6-of-14 shooting but went 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

After losing to Northwestern on Sunday, the Boilermakers have a one-game lead over the Wildcats in the Big Ten standings with four games left to play. They will play three of those contests inside Mackey Arena to end the regular season.
