No. 1 Prospect Caleb Williams Prepares for QB Collective, Academic Advancement

Top recruit Caleb Williams is preparing for another elite quarterback event while keeping an eye on the status of the potential of no 2020 high school football season.

Caleb Williams is the top quarterback prospect in the 2021 class with scholarship offers from elite programs coast to coast before committing to Oklahoma on July 4. He has agreed to give Sports Illustrated exclusive access into his world by chronicling everything from his experience as a high profile recruit to his home life and preparation for his senior season. This is 'All on the Line.'

First off, I would like to thank SI, Sports Illustrated, for naming me the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2021 class. Very thankful for that. Have been working for No. 1 basically all my life.

I like to be No. 1, I like to win. I feel like that's a winning thing. But awards and accolades don't necessarily show the type of person you are, although I'm very thankful for the recognition.

This is the last week for my chemistry summer school class that I talked about last week in the blog. I'm preparing for this last week in class and the big final exam on Friday.

Getting to this week, I just got back from Top Golf. I actually lost; it was very bad. I'm over the loss now but I was very mad at the time because I wasn't hitting very well at all (laughing). It was a good event, with a few of my friends. My dad ended up coming.

I worked out this week. I threw a little bit with some XFL guys, a few of my receivers and a few of my friends. It was a good workout. It was about 98 degrees outside, it was blazing. We worked out for an hour and a half to help me prepare to go to QB Collective this weekend coming up out in Indianapolis.

QB Collective is an awesome QB event. I've been going to it since it started. It's a camp where top guys are invited every year. Some college guys come out, so it's about connecting with those guys as well. Mainly it's connecting with and building relationships with the top NFL coaches that are always there.

There's been Matt Lafleur, the head coach from Green Bay, Sean McVay, the head coach from the LA Rams, Kyle Shanahan, the head coach from the San Francisco 49ers, Mike McDaniel also from the 49ers, and Hall-of-Fame head coach Mike Shanahan, etc. Just a bunch of top notch coaches from the NFL. We spend a lot of camp time in the classroom learning the game from elite coaches' perspectives.

It kind of helps me to get better in preparing for the next level. They have invited fewer QBs this year because of COVID-19. It should be a really good event.

This will be my last time, attending as a high school player, so I'm definitely trying to connect with those NFL coaches that will be there. I mean, shoot, the dream is to get to that next level and these coaches are the ones who draft players. Hopefully build a relationship with them and show them who I am and the type of player and leader I am for these few days I'm there.

I've still been recruiting, talking to a few guys. It's the same kind of guys, but I haven't' really been heavy on recruiting this week. Like I said, I had to focus on finishing strong in my summer school class.

With more and more high school conferences and schools announcing suspensions of fall sports, it looks like my senior campaign will be online, to start at least. So I'm down to get to be able to get to OU way more than I would have been able to if we had normal school and a football schedule.

I'm accepting what will likely happen with my senior year and am being intentional about my planning for next year under these current conditions. Over the next couple of weeks we will know for sure and will be able to implement our plans either way.

Stay tuned.

Signing off, Caleb Williams: All on the Line

Make sure you're staying positive, safe and make sure you wash your hands.
