DALLAS — One of the biggest advantages for fans with SMU headed to the ACC is now Saturdays will be about football. Sorry, it's just not as good somehow tailgating on Thursday nights as a Saturday afternoon on The Boulevard. At least we know one game for sure.

The Mustangs will host BYU on Friday, Sept. 6, in the ACC's games not being played on a traditional Saturday. Only that match with the Cougars in the Big 12 is on it. We'll find out the rest of when in the full release Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. on ESPN2, the ACC Network and fuboTV.

Around the league, things will kick off Labor Day weekend, starting Friday night with mostly non-conference games. On Saturday, the Ponies will host Houston Christian to hopefully the year on a big note. Things will pick up in a hurry with BYU coming to Gerald J. Ford Stadium on the following Friday.

It will be a big day for the ACC on Saturday with Clemson-Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic from Atlanta. Florida will host Miami in another interesting game that day. On Labor Day Monday, Florida State will host Boston College and we'll be off and running into the season.

SMU still has not announced a replacement for Vanderbilt who canceled the scheduled three-game series that was set to begin this season in Nashville, although 247Sports' Brandon Marcello tweeted that SMU and Hawaii are in talks to play each other for the first time since five games from 1998-2002 as members of the WAC. That's a road trip Mustangs' fans would enjoy.
