Mark Kingston and South Carolina's Baseball team made it through the main portion of their conference slate with just one loss to their name, coming against the Clemson Tigers in their series a few weekends ago. Despite making it through their first eighteen games of the schedule with just one slip-up, a certain contingent of college baseball fans and pundits outside of the Palmetto state remained skeptical of the Gamecocks and their actual trajectory due to what they deemed to be an underwhelming strength of schedule.

Consider those concerns officially quelled, at least for the time being, as the Gamecocks ran rough shot over the Georgia Bulldogs all series long and capped off the three-game stretch with a dominant 12-1 win on Sunday afternoon. South Carolina won the game in all three phases: shutting down the Bulldogs with Sunday starter Jack Mahoney on the mound, complimenting Mahoney's stuff on the rubber with good defense behind him, and finding various ways to bat in runs at the plate.

Mahoney's fastball was what was most impressive about his outing, as he used his primary pitch to both put-away batters early and get himself out of holes when needed. On the flip side, the Gamecocks dinged up the Bulldogs pitching staff to the tune of twelve earned runs, scoring five via the long ball, six via singles, and one via a walk, showcasing an impressive ability to beat Georgia in multiple ways.

While some people view this series as a resounding message South Carolina is sending regarding their potential national resurgence in the sport, head coach Mark Kingston made it clear after the game that he's not thinking too far ahead as to what the rest of SEC play could bring for this team.

"There's a long way to go. There's a reason why we play 30 [conference] games. We're ten percent into the schedule right now, so this is a good weekend for us, I'm very happy with everything that happened this weekend, but you've got to keep an even keel about it. Whether it's going your way or whether it's not, you've got to try to stay as even-keeled as possible and focus on the next one."
