FINAL: Gamecocks Clinch Series In 11-4 Win Over Miami (OH)
South Carolina gets the first series win of the season after beating Miami (OH) in game two 10-1 behind another big second inning. Cole Messina once again gets the runs started for the Gamecocks as they get four runs in the bottom of the second. Dylan Eskew, credited with the win, had a rough first two innings, walking four batters, but he picked it up and settled in, sitting down ten straight. He also had six strikeouts and didn't allow another run while he was in.
The runs continued to be added in the fifth inning, scoring five, with only two hits in the inning, highlighted by Ethan Petry's 2nd homerun and two RBI singles from Blake Jackson. The pitching staff continued into game two, performing well; outside of the walks (6), they only allowed two hits and struck them out ten times. The eighth inning gave the pitching staff fits with 2 hits by pitches, 1 walk, 2 hits and 3 runs but got out of the inning with a strikeout.
