Former Gamecock GG Jackson Sets New Career High, Makes NBA History
South Carolina men's basketball fans have been living the dream for the past few weeks, as in that span, Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks have knocked off two Top 6 teams in Kentucky and Tennessee, vaulted in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches polls and are currently tied for first place in the SEC standings. On top of all this, South Carolina's lone player on an NBA roster, GG Jackson, is making waves in the professional ranks.
Jackson has been on the Memphis Grizzlies main roster for the past few weeks after several players were put on the mend due to injury. Although the team has struggled to win, GG has received a golden opportunity to show the coaching staff and front office what he can do, and so far, he's done just that.
On Thursday night, Jackson put together his best performance to date, scoring a career-high 27 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor and becoming the youngest player in NBA history to score 27 or more points coming off the bench. The player who previously held that mark was the late great hall of famer and five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.
GG continues to make his home state proud and will likely find more ways to wow fans before the NBA regular season comes to a close.
